Fear and Loathing in gameville

I'm a little afraid of what might occur in the next few days/weeks/etc. This all stems back to my issue with management. It seems they wait for everything to start working properly, and then they choose that exact moment to fuck it all up. Case in point....games are being made, the team is all getting along....and the tech lead is doing his job fantastically.

Of course if things are going so well, this must be the perfect time to make a few changes....What an absolutely fucking stupid idea! But it makes sense upstairs, so of course they do it. So they lay off two people for no good reason except that they are seen as the most junior on the team. Nevermind that they provide needed talents and do their job fantastically...no, of course that doesn't count for anything. The argument that they are trying to make improvements doesn't mean a thing to me. When something is working, you don't throw a wrench into it...you ride the wave and grow your people. This of course was not allowed to happen.

The largest blow came just 3 days ago. They decided in a fit of utter stupidity to move the technical lead to a different sections completely and replace him...yes replace him...not just with someone who is new and doesn't know us...but who has never been a lead in a software development project before. Now I'm split, half of me wants the guy to be best technical lead they could bring in to the department...the other half wants them to fail miserably out of one fuck of a huge deep seated feeling of spite for this shit. I am not impressed.

Tommorrow is day two of the new guy, and the first half day of three weeks with the experienced manager gone. The sad part is that the man who made this decision will never understand the reason this was a mistake. Software development is not like running people around in a manufacturing plant or a warehouse. One would think that it would be easy to see that 6 months of solid performance following years of failure with nothing to show for it means that the people are at the right mix...do not alter. Of course that isn't going to happen is it....
